Ahead of the screening of ex-Governor Rotimi Amaechi; Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume has lampooned senators elected on the platform of his former party, PDP, saying that the 8th Senate rightfully belongs to the All Progressives Congress, APC, hence they should go and relax.

“I Won’t Comment On Boko Haram, I Still Have Family To Take Care Of” – Ministerial Nominee, Shittu

A ministerial nominee, Adebayo Shittu, who was screened by the Senate on Tuesday declined to publicly comment on the extremist Boko Haram sect, saying he feared for his safety.

Boko Haram is currently ravaging North-East Nigeria, killing, bombing innocent citizens.

Mr. Shittu, responding to a question pertaining the activities of sect, said he could not publicly comment on the sect, expressing fear over his safety.

Saraki may bow to APC’s position on principal officers

Strong  indications emerged, yesterday, that Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was prepared to bow to the position of All Progressives Congress, APC, by sacrificing his principal officers.

According to a source, part of the unwritten agreement to allow peace to reign was to revert to the initial list of the party on the appointment of principal officers.

This was part of the political solution being worked out by the Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, and Senate President, Saraki.

A plot by some suspected terrorists to plant Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the popular Wuse Market in Abuja has been thwarted by a special intelligence response team set up by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, according to Daily Sun.

Police arrest supporters of Radio Biafra director

SCORES of supporters of the embattled director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu were Tuesday arrested by the Anambra State police command at various points in Awka as they embarked on protests in the state capital.

The protesters, including women, carried placards with various inscriptions, marched from Amawbia to the Government House, demanding that Kanu be left alone.

Presidency Sunday said that the defeated Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was a party to be pitied, saying the opposition party has run out of ideas.

EFCC Hits Akpabio with Evidence of His "Monumental" Fraud

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission grilled former Governor Godswill Akpabio for over seven hours for the second time within 24 hours on Saturday. At the end, they confronted him with evidence of his financial "dealings" while he held sway in Akwa Ibom State.

The interrogation of Akpabio by the agency, it was learnt, made it possible for him to come face-to- face with what was described as major financial transactions, on the second day with operatives, carried out by his administration.

Director of pirate radio, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was on Saturday, reportedly arrested by Nigeria secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS).

Suicide bombers disguised as worshippers kill many in mosque in Maiduguri

Dozens of worshippers were killed Thursday when two suicide bombers blew themselves up in a mosque in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, witnesses said.

“All the people in the mosque died. Not a single one escaped,” said Muhtari Ahmadu, a trader near the scene.

“We counted 42 dead bodies outside the mosque,” added Amadu Marte, a vigilante supporting the security forces in the fight against the Islamist Boko Haram group, which has carried out repeated attacks in the region.

A civil servant in Ondo State, Mr. Adebayo Ojo has asked an Akure Customary court to dissolve his 17 year-old marriage with his wife, Ebunoluwa over alleged of infidelity.

Besides, Ojo also expressed his distress over the attitude of his three children toward him, accusing the defendant of turning them against him.

The plaintiff told the court that he could no longer cope with marriage because he has on several occasions caught his wife with several men on their matrimonial bed.
